Each Gold Maple Leaf features a background of finely engraved radial lines. Cut to exact micron tolerances, these create a distinctive light-reflecting pattern unique to the series and ensure consistent quality from one coin to the next.

Enhanced Security
Since 2013, the GML has also carried a micro-engraved maple leaf on the reverse. Applied using advanced laser technology, this textured detail includes a small numeral at its centre denoting the year of issue, visible only under magnification—an additional safeguard confirming authenticity.
