The Canada Hoard $5 gold coin is a historic piece minted by the Royal Canadian Mint under the commission of the British Royal Mint. Produced between 1912 and 1914, this coin draws its name from the Canadian government’s gold reserves at the time.

Featuring King George V on the obverse, the reverse displays the old military coat of arms of the four then British provinces: Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Quebec. A total of 295,814 $5 coins and 364,059 $10 coins were minted before production was halted in 1914 due to the First World War, after which many coins were withdrawn to finance the war effort. By 2015, remaining reserves were largely dissolved, making surviving coins highly prized by collectors.
